美國詩人Clement Clarke Moore(July 15,1779~July 10,1863)在1822年寫下的詩:Twas The Night Before Christmas Poem(also Called"A Visit From St. Nicholas")流傳了近兩個世紀,至今仍常在平安夜被人們朗誦著......耶誕夜期待聖誕老公公造訪的心情,馴鹿雪橇飛過天際的聲音,逐漸接近的腳步,聖誕老人從煙囪爬下來了......他的眼睛閃閃發亮,酒窩盪漾著喜氣,臉頰像玫瑰,鼻子像櫻桃,鬍鬚白得像雪.....送來了禮物,他一句話也沒說,只做該做的事,將禮物裝滿所有的襪子,轉身就走,上了雪橇飛上天空,聖誕老人大聲喊著:"Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!"......經典的聖誕詩篇,多年來由不同的繪者為它畫上插畫出版,不斷的讓大家歌頌......以下是讀書會同學們手邊有的各種版本,不同的畫風,無論是立體書.古典的.細緻的或可愛的畫風,都值得在the night before Christmas與大家分享......
